Scott v. Service Corporation International (SCI)

Scott v. Service Corporation International (SCI)

Three weeks into trial the case settled for $.5 Million. Mr. Ricci was co-counsel with Michael Avenatti of California representing thousands of loved ones whose family grave sites in Eden Memorial Park Mission Hills California were damaged or desecrated for a period of over 25 years. After Three weeks of trial in which the plaintiffs proved through the testimony of 11 current and former employees that management of the cemetery had repeatedly crushed vaults, and mishandled remains, SCI agreed to a court approved settlement of .5 million dollars. Each family would be refunded all burial costs, have the right to have the remains of their loved ones re-interred at the expense of SCI and receive ,000 dollars tax free compensation. The case was brought as a class action and resulted in one of the most generous pro-consumer settlements in California. Ed Ricci was proud to be co-counsel on this landmark case.
